The Loretta Young Show, aired from 1953 to 1961 and was the first and longest-running anthology drama series to feature a female star as host. Film star Loretta Young played a variety of characters in well over half of the episodes, but her glamorous, fashion-show entrances as host became one of the most memorable features of this prime-time series.

Loretta retired from acting in 1963 to devote her time primarily to charity work. A devout Catholic, she spent her later years by volunteering time and personal resources that ranged from hospice work to AIDS care. Loretta Young lent her time, name and resources to many chartible entities for the purpose of fund raising and philanthropic endeavors.
